Starting today VKRS Internet Radio is playing Sonic Walker netaudio mixes from 8pm BST (British Summer Time) until late ~~each Friday night~~ (Update: VKRS is not playing DJ sets any longer).

VKRS Radio is a non-profit webradio which broadcasts Netlabel and Creative Commons Music, from the genres of electronica, dance, ambient and downtempo/chillout. The majority of music aired is for the most part freely downloadable online and distributed for free by Netlabels, artists or producers / DJs.

Last year Sonic Walker resident DJ sea.envy founded his own netlabel called Manifest Northwest Recordings, where he is releasing some quality techno music. His Wood Chop mix celebrates the 8th release on Manifest Northwest Recordings by Matias Rapacioli from Argentina. The mix starts of with a minimal techno track by Matias Rapacioli and features some great techno tracks from other netlabels as well.

Lessig responds to ASCAP attack on Creative Commons

Recently, Creative Commons, along with other groups, was attacked by ASCAP in a fundraising email campaign claiming that CC is working to undermine copyright. But Creative Commons licenses are copyright licenses – plain and simple. They are legal tools that creators can use to offer certain usage rights to the public, while reserving other rights. Without copyright, these tools don’t work.
Creative Commons founding board member Lawrence Lessig has now responded to this untrue attack in a column on the Huffington Post, challenging ASCAP president and chairman, Paul Williams, to a debate.
