The Something Heavy This Way Comes mix by sea.envy features tracks from the first to the most current release on Heavy Industries, a US based netlabel which is known for a mixture of deep, hard and minimal techno and tech house. The label was founded in 2001 by Fabrik Nos and Simex and after a break in 2007 they will be back soon with new releases in 2008.
During a short winter vacation in the south of Europe I finally had a chance to work on a down tempo mix, which had been on my to-do list for a long time. It is a compilation of down tempo, trip-hop, ambient and some dub sounds.
Another active year for Sonic Walker is over. Last year we released 23 free to download netlabel DJ mixes, which were good for more than 4 terabytes of downloads. As before I tried to feature different aspects of the netlabel scene and a large diversity of labels. Visitors on our site have been coming from 114 countries.
I have been undecided about the state of the netlabel scene. Some labels have gone commercial, a few labels disappeared and of course many new labels and artists entered the arena. In general the quality of the releases has been good but I am still missing variety.
Unfortunately in December I didn’t have enough time next to my day time job to release any mixes, but later in January we will be back and there are some special plans for February. Until then you can enjoy any of the existing 36 mixes.
